Rejuvenated Graeme McDowell leads OHL

With Tiger Woods dropping more than 300 spots in the rankings over the course of the 2015 season, Graeme McDowell’s slide from 15th to 85th didn’t get as much coverage.

McDowell racked up seven birdies in an 8-hole stretch en route to an 8-under 63 that put him one stroke up. Starting on the back nine, McDowell heated up with birdies on 16-18. He bogeyed No. 1 on the wrap-around,then birdied 2-5 and 7.

McDowell missed the cut of two Majors last year and his highest finish at the other two was 49th at The Open. The 2010 US Open champion, McDowell last won a PGA event at the 2013 RBC Heritage.

His lead is one over American Derek Fathauer, who followed up his Thursday 65 with a Friday 66. Two other players, Si Woo Kim of Korea and American Harold Varner III are 10-under, two strokes off the lead.
