Cobra Max Metals Make Golf Easier
Cobra has long been a brand with some stand out game improvement weaponry in its arsenal. The Baffler XL range will be familiar to players looking for the extra help in getting the ball in the air and heading in the right direction.
The baton for helping players who find the game a little more difficult has now been passed onto Cobra's new Max range of golf clubs that come with the tag line, 'Golf Just Got Easier, to tell you exactly what these golf clubs are designed to do.
Cobra Max Driver
The Cobra Max driver includes all the technology that engineers have at their disposal to make golf clubs easier to launch and keep straight, especially at the slower swing speeds that players in this market typically have.
An easy to hit golf club starts at address and the 460cc Cobra Max driver has a large address profile to give players greater confidence for the shots they are about to hit. This shape naturally leads to a low and deep centre of gravity (CG) in the head that helps provide maximum forgiveness on off-centre strikes.
It is not just what you can see on the outside of the club that helps to position CG in its most forgiving position in the Max driver. Cobra has also included what it calls 'Straight Flight Internal Tech' inside the head, which translates to a geometry design with the weight bias low, deep and to the heel.
Low CG also plays a key role in increasing distance for slower swing speed players, giving higher launch trajectories and less spin for more carry and roll.
One noticeable feature at address is the offset hosel design. When golf clubs are offset they help the golfer square the club face more easily at impact to create a higher, straighter and more draw-biased ball flight to counter a typical slice.
Translating swing speed to the maximum possible ball speed is essential to getting the most distance from slower swings. Cobra uses two technologies in the Max driver that ensure players get the maximum return for their shots, the Speed Channel Face and the Forged E9 Zone face structure.
The Speed Channel appears across the entire range of Cobra drivers and is an engineered channel that circles the whole perimeter of the face to minimise its thickness to increase the rebound effect and increase ball speeds across the whole face.
A forged face using 6-4 Titanium sits in the cast body of the club creating a much larger sweet spot meaning that strikes across a much larger area benefit from thin and hot face so players lose as little speed and distance as possible from off centre strikes.
Cobra Max Fairways & Hybrids
Both the Cobra Max Fairways and the Cobra Max Hybrids feature the same design elements as the driver to give the same forgiveness and distance for those longer shots.
Large and forgiving address profiles feed into the low CG to provide maximum forgiveness and both clubs are offset to help straighten out ball flight.
Unlike the driver, the Max fairways and hybrids are made from two types of Stainless Steel, with the body cast from 17-4 Stainless Steel and the faces forged from 455 High-Strength Carpenter Stainless Steel.
The faces are joined to the body of the club via the same Speed Channel technology found in the driver, making the face as fast as possible across the entire area to boost forgiveness and maximise distance.
The Cobra Max fairways are available in three lofts of 16°, 20°and 23° and come with the Matrix White Tie 60X4 shaft that is specifically designed to get the most from slower swing speeds.
There are five Max Hybrid lofts available of 19°, 22°, 25°, 28° and 31°, giving players plenty of options to get the correct gaps in the bag and integrate fully with the Cobra Max irons.
The Cobra Max fairways have an RRP of £149 whilst the hybrids will be priced at £129 and will be in store from 15 January 2015.
